On October 21, 2020, under the presidency of His Beatitude Cardinal Lucian, the works of the Synod of Bishops of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek Catholic, took place, reunited in ordinary autumn session. Due to the current situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the works took place online.
The moments of real crisis that the whole society is going through, caused by the accelerated spread of the new coronavirus, were the main topic of the discussions of the Synod Bishops, who urge the faithful to respect the sanitary norms proposed by the authorities.
Administrative, pastoral, and canonical issues were also addressed in the synodal works. The Synod decided to move the relics of Bishops Ioan Inochentie Micu Klein and Atanasie Anghel to the altar of the Major Archbishop's Cathedral in Blaj.
The bishops reflected on the canons of private law proposed by the Synodal Commission for the drafting of the private law of our Church.
In accordance with the provisions of the Instruction Sanctorum Mater issued by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, the Synod of Bishops considers it appropriate to begin the cause of beatification and canonization of the Reverend Mother Maria Sofia Mureșan CMD at the Diocese of Cluj-Gherla.
The next Ordinary Synodal Session will take place between June 9-11, 2021 in Blaj, the seat of the Major Archbishop.
The Synod of Bishops brings together all the Bishops of the Romanian Church United with Rome, Greek Catholic, from Romania and abroad, in ordinary session twice a year, in spring and autumn.

În data de 21 octombrie 2020 s-au desfășurat, sub președinția Preafericirii Sale Cardinal Lucian, lucrările Sinodului Episcopilor Bisericii Române Unite cu Roma, Greco-Catolică, reunit în sesiune ordinară de toamnă. Datorită situației actuale cauzată de pandemia de coronavirus, lucrările s-au desfășurat în modalitate on-line.
Momentele de criză reală prin care trece întreaga societate, cauzate de răspândirea accelerată a noului coronavirus, s-au aflat în centrul discuțiilor Episcopilor sinodali care îndeamnă credincioșii la respectarea normelor sanitare propuse de autorități.
În cadrul lucrărilor sinodale au mai fost abordate teme administrative, pastorale și canonice. Sinodul a hotărât mutarea osemintelor Episcopilor Ioan Inochentie Micu Klein și Atanasie Anghel în altarul Catedralei Arhiepiscopale Majore din Blaj.
Episcopii au reflectat asupra canoanelor de drept particular propuse de Comisia sinodală pentru redactarea dreptului particular a Bisericii noastre.
În conformitate cu prevederile Instrucției „Sanctorum Mater” emisă de Congregația pentru Cauzele Sfinților, Sinodul Episcopilor consideră a fi oportună începerea cauzei de beatificare și canonizare a Preacuvioasei Maici Maria Sofia Mureșan CMD la nivelul Eparhiei de Cluj-Gherla.
Următoarea Sesiune sinodală ordinară se va desfășura în perioada 9-11 iunie 2021 la Blaj, sediul Arhiepiscopului Major.
Sinodul Episcopilor îi reuneşte pe toţi Episcopii Bisericii Române Unite cu Roma, Greco-Catolică, din România şi din afara granițelor țării, în sesiune ordinară de două ori pe an, primăvara şi toamna.
